Hello from 140kms west of Prince George
I give up trying to post pictures. It took an hour to post the ones below!
We have had another wonderful few days since we last checked in.
At the north end of hwy 37 there was a huge area of burnt forest from last year's forest fire. There was even a stark beauty in that.
We stopped at Jade City in Cassier, the jade capital of the world. I was in heaven looking at all the unique pieces. Eddie forced me to buy a piece! That was a real chore! 90% of the world's jade is mined in the Cassier Mountains.
We saw a bear eating berries almost on the shoulder of the north bound lane. There was no one behind us so we were able to stop. We put the back window down at which point the bear decided it wanted to investigate us. When it was about 3 to 5 feet away we decided it was prudent to put the window up and move along.
AFter being asked by many people if we planned to go to Stewart and Hyder we decided to go see for ourselves what they were all about. Are we ever glad we did. The area is described as one of the most beautiful in the province and we concur. We drove the 37km one way self guided driving tour up to the view point of the Salmon Glacier. Indescribable! As a few people said it is impossible to put in to words the beauty. There are two picture of the drive below and I will try to put more on when we get better internet.
On the way back down we saw a bear cub up on a hill in the brush. I did use the telephoto lens this time. Picture to come next time.
After the drive we went to the Glacier Inn in Hyder Alaska and "got Hyderized" a shot of 151% proof grain alcohol. I'll post the funny pictures of that later too.
Tonight we are a bit west of Prince George. Tomorrow we head to Quesnel to see Les and her friends. Then it will be south to Vancouver and Vancouver Island before crossing by ferry to Washington State.
Until next time
LOL Eddie & Merrilyn
